Millions of us feel motivated for brief periods of time to set resolutions, often at land mark points of our life, perhaps a birthday or onset of a new year, to chase an elusive goal. It is sobering to look back and observe some patterns. How may of our resolutions truly stand the test of time. We lose weight, become fitter, stronger, kick a habit, apply for a job, ask a super model out on a date (perhaps that's a fantasy!) only to revert over time to our starting point.
Perhaps the mindset needs to change, and instead of framing our individual resolutions as discrete targets, and expand the vision to become more holistic. Ask yourself "what is my ambition for the next 2-5 years?" Ambition has significantly more power than an individual goal. When you describe someone as ambitious, you are not describing a specific strategy, but rather an attitude.
When we identify with ambition, we are less constrained by the setting and achieving of particular goals. I think ambition is best described as knowing what you want and being committed to finding a way to attain it regardless of ANY obstacles that may present.
You may be currently penniless but ambitious people have an aura that attracts opportunity to them. Ambition is tangible, it has its own seductive energy. I would rather surround myself with positive ambitious people, who have neither money nor a specific goal, than serial goal setters who lack the conviction to risk a little failure, ridicule or rejection in the pursuit of their goals
Where does ambition came from? Birds of a feather really do flock together, and it's a universal truth that if you hang around with turkeys you ultimately will think, act and attract the same results - don't become someone else's Christmas dinner!!
