Alas, these moments of clarity seem to be occasional and momentary, albeit profound and life changing flickers of insight
There are tipping points in our lives that upon reflection and with the benefit of hindsight seem remarkable. Of the millions of conscious decisions we’ve made throughout our life a mere handful would be considered the product of a moment of clarity.
Alcoholics, life long smokers, emotional train wrecks, toxic parents, toxic children, the disillusioned, ambivalent, suicidal, immature, or exhibitors of any number of life and relationship destroying thought patterns and behaviours are all just a moment of clarity away from inhabiting a new reality.
Grudges held by children against their parents for most of adulthood are let go in an instant and life changes. Fanatical hate spruikers see a different light and in an instance life changes. Zealots in a moment of clarity conclude that truth is an illusion and their filter on the world is not universal and life changes
Those handful of moments that set the trajectory of your current life path are no doubt crystal clear memories. It seems to me that these fleeting and precious insights occur when we’re at our least judgmental showing up when we let go and detach ourselves from the approval of others, and indeed the criticism of our own inner voice.
Our biggest disappointments in life don’t come from the lack of enough moments of clarity, but from failing to act on them when they show up.
When you change the meaning and hence the context of a thought life changes in that instant
