From personal experience I can attest to the fact that Goal Setting just doesn't work! Sacre Bleu - surely this is a blasphemy that strikes at the heart of all personal development and success teachings!
I am of course being a little facetious. The label "Goal Setting" needs to be qualified. A momentary fantasy, a day dream of living the dream, driving the Aston Martin, or perhaps travelling the World - First Class, building the dream house atop the hill with views forever.... is not a goal.
A goal is an intention to create. We have all no doubt read that one of the crucial keys to setting AND achieving great goals is in both writing them down and focusing on them with laser intensity, daily. And yet how many of us actually follow through beyond a few days or perhaps a month or two?
My experience over the course of 2013 has convinced me of the power of Vison and Belief, aligned with emotion and daily focus on tangible and specific goals. Action of course is a prerequisite to any success, but the seeds need to be sown before harvesting can commence!
I have set goals for many years - initially inspired by the Book - Think and Grow Rich. I certainly attained some of my goals but most fell by the wayside and lay dormant for years.
Last year I set myself the task of taking this whole Success Attainment process more seriously.
Some of my tangible goals included learning a new language to a reasonable level of fluency, purchasing a new house and car, traveling first class to America and Canada (from Australia), quadrupling my previous years income and a few others. These were not modest challenges.
The difference for me last year I believe, and the reason for so much success lies in the following. Before I set or wrote down a goal I visualised every night in great detail what I was about to attract into my life.
I then wrote down a description in some detail and brainstormed a myriad of thoughts as to the feelings and emotions I would need to manifest these dreams. For instance, emotions such as passion, confidence, belief, power, resourcefulness, positivity, empowerment, charisma, decisiveness, assured, abundant etc
Imagine walking around feeling all those emotions. The buzz and feeling of invincibility is palpable AND attracts similar energy. How do you internalise this endorphin flow of well being? Start talking to yourself!!
For instance: Day 1 - Repeat - preferably silently (!) " I feel terrific, I feel terrific" ..... over and over and over until you are barely conscious of the process. After a day or two - truth be told often within a few minutes - you will start to feel terrific. And how we feel has an energy that attracts similar energy.
Gradually you can add to your mantra's until you have a depth of feelings and emotions that will start to impact on every interaction you have on a daily basis.
For our circumstances to change WE must change - this must be a secret as so few people take this route in their pursuit of their dreams.
More to follow.....
