The complexity of our grey matter is literally unfathomable to the combined human intellect present and past. We are only scratching the surface in our appreciation of how amazing our consciousness truly is.
Our ability to day dream and conceptualise the future, turning impossibility into the tangible is staggering. One of the most profound and mind boggling ideas is that thoughts become things. They always have and always will. Our species for better or worse have moulded our environment, inclusive social relationships, cultural belief systems, division of labour, and sadly the brutal ebb and flow of competing DNA.
Our brain is such a phenomenal instrument, why should we doubt that it would lead us down the path of chasing unattainable visions? More believable is the notion that whatever the mind can conceive, we CAN achieve.
Returning to the topic, and assuming that you and I have innate possibility talent that is almost beyond comprehension, how is it that we so often fall at the first hurdle or perceived obstacle, en route to even the most modest of goals?
If we have the intellectual capacity to navigate the stars, comprehend our existence, beam information around the planet via satellites, build bridges and dams, oil rigs, transplant hearts and a myriad of other once impossible' feats, then surely the difficulty in losing a few KG's, attaining some fitness, life balance, financial security, soul mate, and general well being, should be a piece of cake.
Millions however fail to find that metaphoric cake!
Sometimes a slight perspective shift is all it takes to manifest the seemingly impossible into our lives.
Desire and knowledge are often deemed to be the pre requisites to our success - however let's tweak the context a little (a lot)
Inspiration and commitment are blood brothers in virtually every achievement we will ever attain. Motivation is a second cousin, temporarily helpful but fleeting. Consider the following:
Think of a desire that you've had for sometime, but which hasn't quite unfolded for you so far. For example: Health, fitness, relationship, career, money matters, travel, life balance.
I'll suggest that the key missing ingredient is actually a lack of requisite Inspiration and hence the equally lacking state of commitment to make it happen.
You doubt me? Here's the uncomfortable but perhaps profound punchline.
On a scale of 1-10 how would you rate your base rate Inspiration and commitment to taking care of you children? Or paying your rent/mortgage and bills? Or putting food on the table EVERY day? Or getting to the hospital in an emergency? I'll assume the consensus rating is 10!
Most of us fail to follow through on achievable goals because we haven't got our selves to that point of INSPIRATION where we feel thoroughly compelled and committed to doing whatever it takes - some might call it our requisite tipping point. The thing about tipping points is that we are often so close to success before retreating back to our previous status quo.
Trust in your dreams and immerse yourself in everything you can find that inspires, encourages and reinforces your commitment to turn your thoughts into things!
